A Boo-tiful Color Throwdown Card

A Boo-tiful Color Throwdown Card

color throwdown

swatch414I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown card challenge again this week and decided to continue the Halloween groove I’ve been in lately with a cute little monster card. I used several shades of gray and added in the aqua and lime green for a nice color combination. The papers are from several different sources, as are the stamps; and as usual, I inked all the edges before adhering.

I trimmed the front of the card short for an added bit of interest and added a dark gray sheet on the inside of the card. I also added some lime green sparkles for the monster’s eyes and lime green twine around the middle for some extra interest.

I think this Halloween greeting is just silly enough to send to a child but it’s still cool enough for adults to enjoy also.

Autumn Crisp Card

Autumn Crisp Card

card challenge

mojo468It was another day at home for my child on the mend and myself, but we did manage to get a bit creative about mid-morning. I used the Mojo Monday weekly challenge as my inspiration to create a fun fall card using the Autumn Crisp paper pad from American Crafts.

I really liked the sketch this week and stayed pretty true to the design. I used four different patterned papers and inked all the edges. I also added some extra bling with some sequins and a leaf brad that I’ve had forever in a box. The fall sentiment came from my stash of stamps and it was a perfect size for that empty spot. Everything came together nicely on a piece of kraft paper and I can’t wait to stick this one in an envelope and send to a friend.

My First Color Throwdown Challenge — Yellow, Green & Aqua

My First Color Throwdown Challenge — Yellow, Green & Aqua

color challenge

Here’s a super simple little card I whipped up this morning for the newest Color Throwdown Challenge. This is a first for me, but one of the awesome paper crafters I follow is a guest designer this month so I thought I would give this challenge a go.

This week’s inspiration colors are green, yellow and aqua and a quick survey of my 6×6 paper stash netted me just the right color combination with The Basics Stack by DCWV. This stack is full of geometric patterns in loads of basic colors, so I was able to piece together a very simple design that still has texture and interest. I did create the yellow tag using a paper from Studio Calico’s South of Market stack, because that piece of scrap paper was lying on my work table and just happened to be the right color. I just love it when I can use up some scraps!

I also added more visual interest by adding some green and white baker’s twine, a dash of Stickles and a little yellow hootie-do. It’s a simple but fun creation that’s sure to brighten anyone’s day.
