Christmas is just around the corner and if you’re like me, you are in the process of gathering fun little stocking stuffers for the family that will, in turn, probably never fit into those festive little socks hanging from the mantel. Every year, I have great intentions of completely redoing our gathering of stockings with new handmade versions, but my son is now three and I’m still trying to find the time to sew him a stocking of just the right size, style and color combination. Maybe if I start the day after Christmas this year, I’ll get it done before the 2014 holiday season. In the meantime, here are a few inspiring ideas if you find yourself in the same predicament as I. . .

Saturday Sparks – Christmas Window Boxes
As we change gears from all things fall into holly and ives, I wanted to share a few ideas for decorating window boxes in the spirit of the season. You know I love window boxes and my beautiful summer box flowers have become a frozen brown mess, so it’s definitely time to swap the contents for something a bit more festive. I’ll let you know what I come up with; but in the meantime, enjoy this bit of inspiration.

Saturday Sparks: Thanksgiving Tablescapes
Yes, I know Thanksgiving is weeks away but judging by how quickly Halloween sneaked right up on me I thought we could all use a bit of inspiration to help us change gears and get on our turkey day entertaining hats. My husband and I are hosting his side of the family this year, so I need to get all things headed toward Thanksgiving, including food, decorations and organization. (I’ll think about Christmas the day after that.)
I’m starting with the centerpiece of Thanksgiving, the table, and have found several beautiful and some whimsical ideas to jump start the planning of the timeless tradition of breaking bread (and turkey, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole and such) with family and friends. I love the more simple ideas for sanity’s sake, but I also adore the elaborate layered images of pumpkins, pies, plates and platters. I just can’t decide on a favorite. What about you?
