Creating Creamy Pink Pumpkins on my Round Loom

The weatherman claims we still have almost another week of summer, but I say fall made its entrance on the first of September. That’s the day I bought my first mums, I added pumpkin spice to my scented burners and began planning my fantasy football draft. So, regardless of what the weather people say, fall is here, folks!

In the spirit of the season (the one I think it is), I have once again been knitting pumpkins on my round looms. Instead of the usual orange, I decided to dip into my yarn stash in search of a fun take on a super cute classic. Sometimes it’s color, sometimes texture and sometimes it’s weight that determines my choice, but in this case, all three elements spoke to me for this adorable creamy pink pumpkin. I used a Big Twist Natural Blend yarn, which is a #6 super bulky acrylic and wool blend. The color is Blush Mix and it has subtle tones of creams and pinks. No, it’s not a naturally occurring color, but look how cute it is!

If you want to make your own loom knitted pumpkin, I suggest you watch the Pumpkin Video by Denise at Loomahat. She explains everything really well, and if I need a refresher from year to year, that’s where I go. She uses a 24-peg loom to make her pumpkin, which is pretty small, but I usually use a 31-peg loom and a 36-peg loom to make mine. You can see these two larger sizes in the photo below.

I top off my cute creations with twigs for stems (never a shortage of twigs on our three acres). I also like to add ribbon or twine as a finishing touch. If you decide to loom-knit your own gourd-eous creation, please share in the comments. I would love to see how creative you’re being this “fall.”
