This Tortoise Lives with a Hare

This Tortoise Lives with a Hare

Weight5weeks

So most of you probably know the old story of The Tortoise and the Hare, where the tortoise wins a race by keeping his pace slow and steady while the hare is out having a good time, taking naps and visiting with friends. This means the tortoise probably packed his lunch of celery, water and flax seed for the road and never stopped to indulge on “brunch with the girls” or “mom’s night out.” Now I ask you, what seems like more fun? After all, didn’t the hare still finished the race even if he wasn’t first. I’m sure I would be okay with that.

Okay, so I realize that the brunches and treats are probably what signed me up for this “race” to begin with, but short of surgery and magic pills, I wish there was an easier or more exciting way to quickly lose lots of weight. I’ve often heard weight loss compared to the little lesson-toting work of fiction mentioned above, but it doesn’t make it any easier when you happen to be living with a hare. My husband has been dieting for just over a week and has lost 10 pounds. Seriously?? Men lipo-suck!

Don’t Pet the Dragonflies and Bumble Bees

Don’t Pet the Dragonflies and Bumble Bees

This beautiful little guy (or girl, I’m sure I don’t know the difference) showed up in our front flowerbed yesterday evening and decided to stay awhile. Wasn’t it nice for him to cooperate long enough for me to grab the camera. Of course, our son wanted to pet it. He wants to pet everything, except animals typically in need of petting. Just once, he would love to get his hands on a bumble bee. He says, “but they look so soft.” He has agreed not to go after the bees that frequent our catmint by the mailbox, but I know that someday one will stay put just long enough to send tears down my little guy’s cheeks.

A Little Peach and Roses

Sketch-254It has been awhile since I participated in the Operation Write Home sketch challenge, but I took a little time for myself this Mother’s Day weekend to do a bit of quilting and crafting. This sketch was actually basic enough to make for a quick card creation, even with the spin on interpretation.

There’s no bling, just the basics on this one, but it still turned out pretty cute. I used Authentique’s Humble Bundle 6×6 pack for all the papers, added a stamped sentiment, inked the edges and added a line of stitching. I usually keep my paper sewing machine at the ready, so it’s easy to add an accent here or there.
