5th & Frolicing in the New Year

5th & Frolicing in the New Year

OWH206Operation Write Home isn’t missing a beat as the new year begins, and I’m just trying to keep up with the creativeness of it all. The latest OWH Sketch Challenge was posted yesterday, and since my son so graciously decided to take a long nap today, I was able to create my card, write this post and share my twist on the original inspiration. . . all in one day!

I took a few liberties by adding some tails to my circle and using washi tape to create the vertical shape, but I tried to stay true to the original intent. The cutesy little papers all came from Dear Lizzy’s 5th & Frolic collection with some basic teal accent stock. I purchased the washi tape from Staples right before Christmas and just couldn’t wait to try it out on a new project. I also added three dots of petal pink Liquid Pearls to give the card a bit more dimension and interest. I hope you like!

A Look Back at My Card Making Mojo

A Look Back at My Card Making Mojo

What better way to end and begin a year than by taking a look back at where much of my creative mojo was spent during the last several months.  As a card creator for Operation Write Home, I always feel like I’m doing some bit of good for our troops all over the world; and while not all my cards make it to public viewing, I always try to send my best to our American heroes.

So here are a few of my favorites from the past year — I hope you are inspired and will consider your own creative contribution to Operation Write Home. For loads of great cards, be sure to visit the OWH Top 13 of 2013 Blog Hop.

Christmas Cheer Chocolate

Christmas Cheer Chocolate

This great recipe was a new experiment for the family this year. I found the original idea from a girl in Germany, but the measurements weren’t exact and the ingredients were a bit difficult to find so I gave it a try with some substitutions and guess-work. I’m happy to say the end result was a salty sweet chocolate dessert that appears to be sprinkled with holiday cheer.
