Saturday Sparks – Christmas Window Boxes

As we change gears from all things fall into holly and ives, I wanted to share a few ideas for decorating window boxes in the spirit of the season. You know I love window boxes and my beautiful summer box flowers have become a frozen brown mess, so it’s definitely time to swap the contents for something a bit more festive. I’ll let you know what I come up with; but in the meantime, enjoy this bit of inspiration.

Toys in Heaven

My husband, three-year-old son and I were watching an animated movie this week, and a character in the show passed away and visibly sort of floated up into the sky. Our son asked my husband what was happening and after a short thought he looked at me and said, “I’ll let Mom answer that one.” (Thanks, honey.)

I simply answered that she was going to Heaven to be with God and Jesus. He gets the concept of there being a Heaven and he refers to baby Jesus in Heaven quite often, so I thought this might help him understand the nicer side of death.

Of course my little guy didn’t miss a beat. He turned to me and asked, ”Are there toys in heaven?” Boy, don’t we all wish we knew. . .

Just a Little “Love Thing”

Just a Little “Love Thing”

lovethingcard197The newest OWH sketch challenge is a basic one, but that allows for a bit of embellishing and a little creative fun. I used a tag stamp instead of the rectangle box, but I still incorporated the layering effect from the original idea.

My papers are from My Mind’s Eye Follow Your Heart-Be Amazing paper pad and some basic kraft and teal card stock. The sentiment is a stamp and I finished off this love card with a big orange brad and some raffia ribbon.
