Applesauce and Pizza Birthday Surprise

Applesauce and Pizza Birthday Surprise

Well, I am officially celebrating the last of my 40s and if last week’s birthday surprise is any indication of what’s to come I am so hammering down on the birthday brakes right here folks. The day was certainly one I won’t forget with a spectacular 2:30 a.m. start as my eight-year-old son woke up running a fever. A thermometer, a cool rag and a dose of Advil signaled the end of my sleep and the start of my day.

Of course I had this whole fabulous day planned out, which was slated to start with brunch, end with dinner and contain some serious shopping in between. I was going to kick number 49’s tail and celebrate the day with friends, family and a little bit of myself. Sounds awesome, right? Wah-wah-wah. . .

Another Sketch Challenge Christmas Card

Christmas card

Christmas cardAfter last week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge, I decided to create an entire collection of Christmas cards using the rest of my “Tis the Season” kit by Echo Park. So when the new sketch came out this week at Freshly Made Sketches, of course I had to play along.

All the papers used on this creation are from the EP “Tis the Season” collection, including the premade graphic card. I interpreted one of the boxes from the sketch into a banner shape and slightly popped up the front card. I inked all my edges with an antique gray color and added one little accent of snowflake ribbon to polish off the whole look.

Sometime in the next several days I hope to share the entire Christmas card collection I’m working on, so I hope you will return for a look see.

Snow Day Sketch Challenge

Snow Day Sketch Challenge

sketch challengeAt the last-minute (and probably because my craft room is considerably cleaner than it was this morning) I decided to play along with this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge, but I also promised to take my son to the movies on this cold snow day, so I’m going to keep this brief.

I used Echo Park’s Tis the Season collection kit to create this simple but cute card and added the wooden star and some twine to finish off the look. Of course I inked my edges as usual, and popped up the sentiment for a bit of interest. I think it’s basic but cute, and I can’t wait to send it along to someone special.

UPDATE: This card was chosen as a “Princess of Clean” at Freshly Made Sketches.
