Cute Chick Card for Sketch Challenge

Cute Chick Card for Sketch Challenge

sketch challenge

sketch challengeMy goodness, where did my card making mojo go? I swear it took me two hours to create a couple of cards for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches sketch challenge and it felt like  a real struggle just to produce these. I don’t know if was the sketch, my paper choice, the Easter theme (you know me, I’m never one to be that much ahead of the game) or the fact that I had to first clean a spot in my craft room just to get started. Ugh!

As I gave my crafting table a clearing, I came upon some shimmery chick paper on top of a pile of I-don’t-know-what-to-do-with-this stuff, so I decided to chop it up and make some cards. I don’t know where this stock came from or how I might ever use it, so I created some cute Easter greeting cards way ahead of schedule.

For the first card (pictured below), I stuck to the sketch, but it seemed kind of blah to me, so I created a second one (top card) with a little spin. I think number two is cuter than the first, but both are very “bright.” Although you can’t see it in the photos, a little shimmer paper goes a long way. *grin*

Spreading a Little Warm Weather Cheer

Spreading a Little Warm Weather Cheer

warm weather

Our beautiful warm weather inspired me today, along with the simple little Freshly Made Sketch, of course, so I just knew I had to incorporate a fun little flower somewhere on my card. While the colors are a bit fallish, I think the bright flower gives this card enough whimsy to wish someone special a happy spring or summer day.

freshly made sketchI used The Green Stack from DCWV to create this card; and to tell you the truth, I was very glad to be able to use a few pages out of this paper pad because I’ve owned it for a very long time and really haven’t used it much (for whatever reason).

I opted not to put a sentiment on the front and just used the flower for that element from the sketch because I was afraid it would be too cluttered. The effect is simple, but I think it’s kind of cute. Along with an added banner element, a staple and some inking around the edges, this card is complete!

St. Patrick

St. Patrick’s Day is only a few days away and I have been crafting some cute Irish inspired cards for just the occasion. Unfortunately as I started creating with greens and gold, I quickly discovered that I didn’t have a single St. Patty appropriate stamp or sticker to my name. So with necessity being the mother of invention and all that, I decided to create my own set of digital circle stamps. . . and “lucky” for you (yes, that’s a St. Patty’s pun), I’m sharing my whole sheet of digis with my readers. The pdf file includes eight sayings that should fit in a 1.75 or 2 inch circle punch. You can also get creative with them in other ways, so feel free to download and craft away your day. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
