Black Tutu Easy Halloween Wreath

Recently I posted some great Halloween wreath ideas hoping to spark my own creativity in the matter, and I’m happy to report that I actually picked my poison (don’t mind my Halloween reference) and put together my new favorite (and only) Halloween wreath.

I love this simple black tutu wreath with the pop of orange ribbon and discovered that it was super easy to complete. It only took three ingredients, a pair of scissors and a few hours in front of the TV to make this fun project, and I am super happy with the result.

Materials:

9.8 inch wreath form (or similar size)
100 yards of black tulle (probably won’t use all of it)
orange ribbon
scissors

Directions:

Cut tulle in 18-20 inches long strips.
Layer two strips together and tie tightly in a knot around the wreath form. The double layer of tulle helps camouflage the color of the wreath form.
Continue to tie the strips around the wreath until the entire form is covered. As you tie on new strips, push the knots together so that the gaps between the knotted strips disappear.
When the entire form is covered, add a strip of ribbon to hang the wreath.
With the wreath hanging, you can fluff out all the pieces of tulle and trim any long or unruly pieces.

Yes, it’s that easy! I sat on the couch a couple of evenings and completed my cute little tutu wreath while watching football and Mission Impossible with my husband. It really is a no-brainer (the project, not my husband).

Autumn Crisp Card

It was another day at home for my child on the mend and myself, but we did manage to get a bit creative about mid-morning. I used the Mojo Monday weekly challenge as my inspiration to create a fun fall card using the Autumn Crisp paper pad from American Crafts.

I really liked the sketch this week and stayed pretty true to the design. I used four different patterned papers and inked all the edges. I also added some extra bling with some sequins and a leaf brad that I’ve had forever in a box. The fall sentiment came from my stash of stamps and it was a perfect size for that empty spot. Everything came together nicely on a piece of kraft paper and I can’t wait to stick this one in an envelope and send to a friend.

A Crafty Week with My Sister

My sister drove up from Oklahoma this week (dodging snow storms along the way) to spend a few fun days with me, and we have certainly shopped and cropped our way through the week. Okay, so maybe there was a little more shopping being done, but a girl’s gotta stock up on that good crafty stuff, you know.

Sometimes I need a visit from my crafty sibling to get my scrapbook bottom on track, so it’s always nice to get a visit from my sis from time-to-time. Other than spending hours in craft stores and scrapbook shops, here is what we’ve been up to (and what kind of mess I’ve made).

My sister finished lots of projects, including some Bo Bunny cards, several layouts and a mini album.

I on the other hand, made a huge mess and worked my way through day seven of 2015’s December Daily album. I’m a slow scrapbooker. . .
