I picked fresh strawberries from the garden this week! Okay, so I kind of cheated, but I did pick them and they were growing in my garden. Never mind that my husband bought mature plants full of unripened fruit. I just had to stick them in the ground and watch them turn from a ghostly shade of white to a delicious deep red.

Summertime Tomato Cucumber Salad
Today was the last full day of summer for this crazy year, and we have been enjoying the final fruits (or vegetables as it were) of our petite backyard garden. One of my favorite fresh summertime meals is a cucumber tomato salad. Usually I just thrown in a bit of this and a dash of that and call it good, but this time I wrote it down just so I could share the recipe with my readers, and of course, save it for myself.
Green Beans, Goulash & My Garden
My son and I are making a quick weekend visit to my hometown for my great niece’s high school graduation (which is finally happening), and after several hours on the road it’s always nice to sit down to a delicious home cooked meal. Mom whipped up a huge batch of very cheesy goulash for the three of us, but I supplied the tasty side — fresh green beans.
